What is Mubeeya Cultural and Tourism Heritage Center?
Mubeeya Cultural and Tourism Heritage Center is a non-government organization registered under the National Bureau of NGOs in Uganda. We are dedicated to preserving and promoting Uganda's rich cultural heritage through various programs, activities, and educational initiatives.
Where are you located?
Our main center is located in Nkokonjeru, Buikwe District, Uganda. We also work with various cultural heritage sites across the country, particularly focusing on the Mubeeya River area and surrounding regions.
What does "Mubeeya" mean?
Our name "Mubeeya" comes from the local Luganda language, meaning "let them see" - reflecting our mission to showcase Uganda's rich cultural diversity to the world.
What are your opening hours?
We are open every day from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Special events and activities may have different hours, so we recommend checking our activities page or contacting us before your visit.
How much does admission cost?
General admission is 10,000 UGX for adults and 5,000 UGX for children under 12. Students with valid ID cards receive a discounted rate of 7,000 UGX. Some special activities and tours may have additional fees.
Is the center accessible for visitors with disabilities?
Our main center is wheelchair accessible, with ramps and accessible restrooms. However, some of our outdoor cultural sites may have limited accessibility due to natural terrain. Please contact us in advance so we can help plan your visit accordingly.
Do you offer guided tours?
Yes, we offer several guided tours including the Kampala Heritage Walk, Mubeeya River tour, and visits to various cultural sites. Tours are available in English and Luganda. Private tours can be arranged with advance notice.
How do I book a tour?
You can book tours through our online booking system or by contacting us directly at +256 782880112 or mubeeyatourism01@gmail.com. We recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance.
What should I bring for a tour?
For outdoor tours, we recommend comfortable walking shoes, sun protection (hat, sunscreen), water, and a camera. Some tours may require additional items which we will specify when you book.
How can I support Mubeeya Tourism?
There are several ways to support us: through financial donations, volunteering your time, spreading awareness about our work, or participating in our activities. Visit our donation page for more details.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes, Mubeeya Tourism is a registered non-profit organization in Uganda, and donations may be tax-deductible. We provide official receipts for all donations that can be used for tax purposes.
How are donations used?
Donations support our cultural preservation programs, community education initiatives, maintenance of heritage sites, and operational costs. You can specify if you'd like your donation to go toward a particular program.
Can I volunteer at Mubeeya Tourism?
Yes! We welcome volunteers in various capacities including tour guiding, educational programs, event coordination, and more. Please contact us with your skills and availability.
Do you accept international volunteers?
Yes, we accept international volunteers. However, volunteers are responsible for their own travel arrangements, accommodations, and necessary visas. We can provide guidance and recommendation letters as needed.
What skills are needed for volunteering?
We value a variety of skills including teaching, research, photography, event planning, translation, and more. Even if you don't have specific skills, your enthusiasm for cultural preservation is welcome!
